This week, on a day between storms, I had the pleasure of shooting GJ and Jenna's engagement session! Heather and Jenna grew up together, and I was honored that even before GJ proposed, Jenna told Heather she wanted me to photograph their wedding! Yeah, I was a little honored by that! Time went by, we went out to dinner, we talked about photography. A week later it was official, I was to be their wedding photographer! Heather is Jenna's maid of honor... I'll be working. This sort of makes me wonder, what is the bigger honor; being asked to be in a wedding, or being asked to shoot one?
Anyway, like I was saying, on a day between storms... We really threaded the needle this past Wednesday, showers and gloomy skies on Tuesday and torrential downpours on Thursday... Wednesday, beautiful blue skies, and white puffy clouds (I like clouds... clouds are my friend)!
We couldn't have asked for better weather, though when we started, it was pretty hot standing in the sun, but GJ and Jenna stuck with me everywhere I wanted them to go.
They wanted to have their engagement session on Heather's family's farm, so we headed into the pastures and fields and tall grass. (Truth be told, I don't know the difference.) We even ventured to the stream, but that was washed out from all the recent rain and we trucked (literally) and hiked for nothing. Or almost for nothing. When Heather was opening one of the gates, I was still sitting in the back of GJ's pickup truck (you know, like we all did when we were kids, and there weren't seatbelt laws) and I looked behind us, banged hand on the top of the pickup cab like they do in movies, and shouted "Hop out guys..." Like I said, they stuck with me everywhere I wanted them to go. "Start walking, I will tell you when to stop." That got us this next image. I love the graphical element of the tracks we made through the field. Or pasture. Or yard?
GJ and Jenna, thank you both very much for honoring me with shooting your wedding and engagement! I'm looking forward to September, but I know I will see you guys before then! Thank you again, and I hope you enjoy your sneak peeks! (click on any of them for a larger version)
