Congratulations to Jenna and GJ!
I had the pleasure and honor of capturing the moments of Jenna and GJ's country themed wedding this past Saturday! It was pure country, from the cowboy boots to the Case Agriculture hats and the reception itself was held in a huge barn on a beautiful pumpkin farm in Stillwater!
The forecast was for rain much of the day, so we kept our eyes on the sky and changed plans to get outdoor shots when the time allowed for it. How does that saying go, "into every life, a little rain must fall?" I don't think any rain was going to dampen the joy and excitement of their big day. Here is Jenna, just before she headed into the church... I stopped her and Heather (who was in the wedding, not assisting this time around, well, she was assisting Jenna as Maid of Honor) just long enough for a few pictures before they ran inside to the church.
Ahhh... bubbles! In spite of one of the guest's best efforts, I didn't get any soap bubbles in my mouth or eyes (I accused her of trying to give me soap poisoning!)... this time. Last year I wasn't so lucky, but that is another story. After the ceremony we headed back to the groom's parent's house for some refreshments and the girls all changed into something a little more comfortable...
We headed out to the reception venue, during the trip we passed through a couple of cloud bursts, but as luck would have it for us, it wasn't raining when we arrived at the farm. Rainy overcast skies can make for some of the most beautiful photos... deep saturated colors, soft light... perfect controllable light (when you have an assistant carrying a softbox for you)!
But... our luck only held so long and the rain blew in, but the show must go on! Knowing the forecast was looking wet, we made sure we had umbrellas for the entire wedding party (special thanks to Heather and Jill for running around finding a set of umbrellas). In short order my assistant transitioned from carrying a softbox to holding an umbrella over me as we worked to wrap up the last of the outdoor photos... with me begging, pleading, and stealing with the perpetual lie "just five more minutes..."
I have to give a big thank you to the entire bridal party... they really hung with us in the pouring rain, and for much of the time all they really had to do was wait, and perhaps wonder about how warm and dry it was in the barn at this point. But like I said, they really hung with us through it all. They took that rain, and they owned it!
Jenna and GJ, congratulations again, thank you for choosing me to cover your special day, and I hope you enjoy your sneak peeks! Talk to you soon!
Thanks for stopping by!
